What Is Mold? 8-25-15

Molds are various types of fungi that grow in filaments and reproduce by forming spores. Mold can be found in essentially any enviroment or season; but thrives in damp, warm, and humid areas. Molds reproduce by forming tiny spores that are not visible to the naked eye. These spores can survive in enviroments where mold cannot grow and travel through indoor and outdoor air. Only when the spores land on a surface where moisture is present will mold start to grow.

Mold and Your Health. 8-31-15

Molds are ubiquitous, and mold spores are a common component of household and workplace dust; however, when mold spores are present in large numbers, they can present health hazards to humans, potentially causing allergic reactions and respiratory problems. Some molds, such as Statchybotrys Chatarum, produce mycotoxins that pose a serious health risk and can lead to neurological problems. These mycotoxin producing molds are usually referred to as "toxic mold". Common sypmtoms caused by mold allergy are watery or itchy eyes, a chronic cough, headaches or migraines, difficulty breathing, rashes, tiredness, sinus problems, nasal blockage, and frequent sneezing.
